Although it’s a fairly small town, locals rave about the community’s vibrant atmosphere, natural beauty, and abundant parks. Here are some awesome spots our Outdoor Experts love:

Bluemont Park

This highly-rated park earned its stars for good reason. With wide-open fields, trails that lead to local landmarks, rustic bridges, covered pavilions, and a variety of sports courts, there’s no shortage of ways to play and explore. Start your visit near the Manchester entrance to catch the blush of pink trees in spring, check out the historic farmhouse, or skip stones in the nearby creeks. The highlight? A quiet, wooded stretch that’s perfect for cycling, recharging, and reconnecting with nature. Bluemont Park is the kind of place you’ll want to bookmark and keep returning to!

Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail

With its rich history and picturesque views, the W&OD Trail is a true local legend. Once a bustling railroad line, it now stretches 45 paved miles through northern Virginia, winding past colorful trees, rustic landscapes, and tucked-away pockets of nature. Whether you’re cycling, running, skating, or simply out for a casual stroll, this trail offers a smooth ride with something new around every bend. Need a break or want to mix up your workout? You'll find plenty of rest benches and fitness stations sprinkled along the way.

Four Mile Run Trail

If you’re an early riser — or want to become one — this scenic trail makes those sunrise wake-up calls more than worth it. Cruise along riverside paths, wind through wooded stretches, cross peaceful creeks, and even follow the route to George Washington’s historic Mount Vernon estate. The 15-mile out-and-back mix of roads and trails offers a ride with variety: twists and turns, steep climbs, and a few low bridge passes to keep things interesting. You’ll also pass through a handful of local favorites, including Bluemont Park and Madison Manor Park.
