However, what I don't get is why there's no inner mesh pockets for quickly storing gloves. It's a tiny feature that would make the jacket that much more useful.
The primary issue I faced was with the main zipper, which was considerably difficult to maneuver, especially during the snowboarding season. Zipping up the jacket became a challenging task, regardless of whether I wore gloves or not. Hence, a crucial improvement would be to enhance the usability of the main zipper, possibly by making it larger and more glove-friendly.
Secondly, the sleeve cuffs, where you can strap and seal your wrist to your gloves, lack elasticity. Incorporating a stretchable material at the cuff would greatly improve the jacket's functionality, as it would enable the skier to tuck their gloves in more comfortably. As it stands, the stiffness of the cuffs and the inadequate diameter made it an arduous task to secure my gloves within the sleeves.
In summary, while the jacket's aesthetics and overall performance are impressive, the issues with the wrist diameter and zipper caused some considerable inconvenience during the past winter season.
It dumps heat very well, and at the same time kept me warm when temperature was cold, windy, and snowy. Like all the pockets, too.
I am a telemark skier, so want to be able to dump that heat, and athletic. I will go BC and skin later this winter and I know this shell will be perfect. I like the layering as opposed to a jacket with a liner. I think I can get an overall lighter set up with shell and lightweight puffy down vest/jacket.
The lower front pocket stashes my hestra gloves, when I'm getting ready. No problems with valuables in inner pocket or phone in outer upper pocket.
I bought an XL. 44L, 16N 34/35 shirt size; 36W. I could probably get away with a large but I like the added length and I also wanted layers. doesn't feel too big. I like a longer/taller fit in a jacket. snow skirt works well plus there is a cinched
The upper zip pockets work well with my backpack. I have an Osprey Kamber 22.
I listed a 'con' as zipper...the front zipper is slightly finicky but by no means a 'show stopper'
I would buy this again and am considering adding the carbide bibs now to the clothing 'quiver'
I love the sleeve zipper, it's got a dope inside pocket on the right side and other compartment here and there. Above all it looks really good and I enjoy the fit a lot. Took a risk because there are no reviews anywhere but it was on sale and the pics looked good.
I was worried about having a double zipper in case the lower would ride up, but I don't think that will be an issue.
The only negatives are, 1) the cuff with the thumb in the hole won't allow any glove on. The stitching is too close not allowing a snow glove into the sleeve. To me I don't really care as I won't use that. If I used the thumb cuff I would use it with large gloves over the sleeve. 2) the hand pockets are a bit small. 3) the hood adjusters are on the inside which looks better but makes it harder to adjust.
I am 5'9" and it's a bit longer but the bottom zipper can be used to mitigate that.
