good updates, not so good implementation
I bought this when it first released. I am a long time Saucony fan and was disappointed after putting 50 miles on it. For background, I enjoyed the triumph 21/20 and endorphin speed 4. I am a collegiate runner and loved the triumph line apart from instability which is why I wanted this newer version. This version fixes stability (width-wise) and has a better upper. Overall good job on comfort and easy lockdowns. However there's a caveat with the foam. This shoe is so difficult to run in. My legs are feeling more beat up after every run in them because I'm working so hard in the soft foam that doesn't give me much energy return back. The implementation of powerpb is not good and I have to wonder who greenlit this shoes and who's it for. I do like PowerPb in other shoes and I'm okay with it be tailored to training in this shoe so I had lower expectations. The issue is that it's too soft with a rubbery landing with little energy return and instability. It feels like this will appeal to walkers and not runners. I'm a serious runner and this didn't work. I really gave this shoe a try and 15 runs and every time I felt beat up which is the opposite of what I want from a "max cushion" "recovery" shoe.

Great Update
My initial review of this shoe was negative, but after giving it more time I really like the changes. The ride is softer than the 21, which I like. I use the Triumph for a soft cruiser and hope Saucony keeps it that way. There are plenty of other shoes for picking up the pace. I also like the wider base, plus the upper is very comfortable, not to mention nice looking. While at first I felt this shoe was a step backwards, after more use I think I like it better than any other Triumph, and I've been buying them since version 9.

Would not purchase again
I purchased the Speed 4 several weeks ago. I have purchased and worn about 15 pairs of Speed 2 and 3s. The Speed 4s that I received are too big and loose compared to the other Speed pairs previously purchased and they feel too uncomfortable across the top of the foot where you tie the laces, not matter how I try to lace them. They do not have the same roll/propel forward feeling as the Speed 2s did. I have worn Saucony running shoes exclusively since 1981 and purchased 8-10 pairs a year and these are the fit and feel pair I have ever purchased, especially considering the price. Very disappointing.

From best to worst in two versions
In 2022 and early 2023 I put 1600 miles in 4 pairs of Endorphin Speed 2. I absolutely loved this shoe, so much that I ran my first-ever marathon in them and many 15-20 mile long runs. This was the best shoe ever.
I excitedly ordered the version 3 and the footbed felt like it was dimpled under the forefront and I sent them back and got some Triumph 20s instead. I've run in two pairs of Triumph 20s since. I love the comfort but I missed the snappy Endorphin Speed.
This week I thought I'd give the Endorphin Speed 4 a shot. I ran a 3 mile and 4 mile run in them. My feet hurt bad after 2 miles both runs, the forefoot felt like there were chunks of the midsole missing and simply not comfortable. Also the upper was way too stretchy and I couldn't get the shoe snug at all. I sent these back because I couldn't imagine a full training block in this shoe.
Why wreck such a good thing? The V2 was amazing, can you please go back to that design? Seriously, take the same approach like you did with the Triumph and tweak but avoid the wholesale changes. These aren't even close to being the same shoe or feel.
Unfortunately, I've now moved on to my first pair of New Balance 1080s after being a Saucony endorser for 2 years, it's saddens me to each for a new brand.

Best Triumph since the 17
The Triumph 22 is the best version to date. The 22 brings me back to what I loved about the Triumph 17: soft, cushioned ride with enough bounce and stability to pick up the pace when warranted. I feel the Triumph lost its way since the near perfect 17, with the last few versions coming in with an unstable slab of rubber and calling it a max cushion trainer. The Triumph 22 is pure comfort, with a confidence boosting lock-down and stable ride akin to what the Hurricane 22 provide (another favorite shoe). Love it and already have multiple pairs.

Disappointed
Once a runner and trying to get back into it. These are not the same shoes as previous models and I'm very disappointed that I paid $170 for them. I noticed a very strong plastic smell out of the box that stuck to the shoe for weeks. They lack cushioning in the forefoot and have been causing me foot pain. They are not springy and feel very stiff. The Endorphin Speed 2's provided a cushioned springy boost that propelled me forward into an effortless stride. These feel I am pounding the pavement and sucking the life out of my legs rather than returning energy. I have knee pain in both knees since I have started wearing these and taking time off to recover has really set me back. I will look for a new shoe that provides the springy bounce and cushioning that these shoes once had.

Guide 17 changed a lot and for the worse.
The changes with the Guide 17 over the Guide 16 and prior generations makes this a no go for me. The Guide 17 is a noticeably larger shoe than the Guide 16 and prior generations. The foot strike area is different than prior Guide shoes.
The size. The Guide 17 is large and wide and felt awkward and uncomfortable to walk and run in. The widest part of the shoe, the forefoot area is nearly 5 inches wide, a half inch wider than the Guide 16. The midfoot area on the Guide 17 is nearly 3.5 inches wide while it is barely 2.75 inches on the Guide 16. The heel area is on the Guide 17 is over 4 inches wide while it's a just under 3.5 inches on the Guide 16. When I opened the box I initially thought I had been sent a wide width or had mistakenly ordered something other than medium width. It's like the shoe has become an extra extra wide.
Foot strike area. The Guide 16 and prior generations my foot strike zone would be the forefoot area but the Guide 17 is the heel to midfoot area.
The offset of the shoe changed from the Guide 16 to 17 or the description on the website and the shoe are wrong. The website lists the Guide 17 as having an 8mm offset which is the same 8mm offset for the Guide 16 but the actual Guide 17 I received has a 6mm offset printed on the sole of the shoe.

Smooth and Stable
A very well balanced shoe! If you are just starting out, or have been running for a while, you can't go wrong with Ride 17. I would take Ride 17 any day over Brooks Ghost or Adrenaline. The foam will need about 20 miles to break in. I bought these shoes for running on the cushy treadmill and working out at Orangetheory, but often reach for them for street runs. Some online reviews say that Ride 17 and Triumph 21 are very similar. They are not. Aside from having the same foam, the running experience differs between these two. Ride 17 is a well balanced "do-it-all" shoe that can also push the pace, though not to the level of the Endorphin Speed. Triumph 21 is great for long runs where your gait gets tired, providing a great cushion for some heel-striking, and it is more bouncy as well. Triumph 21 can also push the pace to a similar level as Ride 17. I would not pick the Triumph 21 for running on a cushy treadmill. I prefer Ride 17 for walking. I rotate the Ride 17 with Hoka Clifton 9, essentially using both in the same scenarios, yet Ride 17 can be more easily pushed to faster paces. Highly Recommended.

Great cushiony, comfortable good looking.
I just got these. We live in the city. I do a lot of walking. I have never been a runner. I'm
not sure why it's assumed if someone buys running sneakers that it automatically makes them a runner. Walking has the same benefits and doesn't wear out your feet, knees and hips as bad. We walk on concrete. These are very cushiony. The most cushiony Saucony's and other brands I've ever had. I like the wide toe box too. I have narrow feet yet I need a wide toe box. And the back still fits appropriately. A lot of other brands are all disproportionate re that issue. I got all white as well. They look good too.

22's Continue to be great for me
I run 30 to 40 miles per week and weigh 170 pounds. Honestly, can not tell the difference between these (22's) and 21's/20's worn previously. The older versions were fine for me, and these (22's) are too. Continues to ne a great shoe for this runner.
