My 12 year-old (super skinny) daughter's favorite bike shorts/only ones she likes. She's likes the fit: the padding is not too bulky on her frame and the style is nice; the legs are not too tight. I'd recommend these for skinny kids who have trouble fitting into other bike shorts that are too bulky and loose.

We purchased these for our average sized 10 year old son (4'10" ~ 70lbs) based on the sizing chart and his waist size (S). They showed up and we immediately thought they had sent us some kind of incorrect product. These shorts are so short, they hit about 7" above his knees. They cover less of his upper leg then they expose. I don't know who Pearl Izumi has designing their kids shorts, but they need to be talked to. I think that if I sent my son to school in these shorts, he'd be sent home for wearing inappropriate clothing. I am really, really confused as to how this design fits anyone over 3' tall. These should be labeled as toddler shorts, seriously.

Unless your kid has remarkably short legs, or likes wearing very comically short shorts while riding, I'd suggest to look elsewhere.
