Poor fit and flexibility
I bought this jacket for active fieldwork. While it was warm and comfy, it felt very small on me. There was very limited movement around the shoulders/armpits as well as the elbows. And when I had it buttoned up with the hood on, it felt restrictive on my neck. I sized up and it still wasn't comfortable. Plus the hood is giant and not adjustable. Fortunately I was able to exchange it for a Skogso jacket for a little extra money and am very happy now! The Skogso even has an adjustable hood and twice as many inside pockets. Definitely worth the price difference.

Fantastic Jacket shame about the hood
I have bought three unlined Greenland jackets over the past forty years, two of them are still in use, the first I grew out of. Fantastic functional and comfortable garments. So I bought a winter one a few weeks ago, great coat however I would have preferred a removable (or none at all) hood. The fixed one that comes as standard has no adjustment and just flops over your eyes and allows the wind to howl about inside it is a chocolate fireguard!!!! When lockdown ends I shall go to a tailor to see if it can be removed. The useless hood will stop me from buying another Greenland jacket, very poor design.

Extremely warm
I am 5'9", 220Lbs Athletic build and purchased an XL which fits perfectly. I live just North of Quebec City, QC, Canada in the mountains and I am also in the Canadian Military. I do not wear this jacket for snowshoeing because even if it's -30C, it would be too warm, however, I do wear it in -20C and colder for low level activities and I do not feel the cold at all! This jacket is perfect for once you have climbed your mountain and have set up camp and just need to chill while staying warm. I Love it

Great for NYC commuting!
After getting through a NYC December/January where conditions ranged from 40F with heavy rain to nearly 10F with strong wind and snow, I can officially say I love this jacket. It's very stylish and the warm adjustable hood is a highlight. I prefer the flexibility of having a versatile "lighter" jacket that can get through three seasons but this jacket isn't super light. When it got down into the 20s, I just layered with a light insulated vest and the jacket remained effective.

I don't understand some of the complaints in other reviews? two-way zippers are always a little more difficult to zip up but with the longer length of the jacket, it's well worth it. And no, my arms didn't get cold in the jacket either.

Excellent Coat, a Couple Minor Upgrades Needed
I bought this as an everyday winter coat for the notoriously windy and cold Chicago winters. I've only used it a few times, but the canvas kept me dry on an especially chilly, rainy day. I would suggest going a size up from what you would normally buy to allow yourself the ability to layer underneath for colder days. In my estimation, the fleece is better than the down version because of its wicking properties and thermoregulation that you don't get with down. It can be worn w/ just a t-shirt on milder days without causing you to sweat. The pockets are large and easy to access w/ the snap buttons, and I love the one on the inside of the jacket to stash my wallet and iPhone.

My only suggestion to improve this coat would be to move the two hand pockets to the diaphragm area and cant them as you see on a classic pea coat. Additionally, I would like to see some sort of hand warmer material used instead of the canvas.

All in all, an excellent, stylish coat that I look forward to using for many years to come.

Temperature range - moderate only.
I'd expected this jacket to be good for wearing t shirt only in temperature say 8degC down to 0degC.

It's not that warm at all. Anything close of 5deg for walking moderate activities and I feel chilly. Have added Greenland down vest but it's still not really feeling warm. So bear that in mind.

I would really like to see this with a waist cinch and some sort of adjustment on the back of the hood to improve visibility, if I'm on a city bike with the hood up the side visibility is awful - a cinch at the back would really help.

A general request for all jackets would be side vent zips. There are very few FJ jackets with side vents and they'd be really useful when you are being more active but dealing with mixed weather conditions that don't permit zips being drawn open.

Waterproofing wise. If you are in a heavy down pour the arms tend to wet thru after about 10-15mins. Generally the body has been ok but it's definitely water resistant vs water proof.

Have now ordered Skogso as there are much more positive comments on that jacket on better temperature range.

FJ - keep going with the colour ways. Good to see blues / yellows / reds.

Durable and Warm, to a Point
Overall I like this coat and will keep using it, but if you're cold-natured/over 50, you won't find it as warm as some describe. It's certainly not a coat that's "impossible to be cold in" as FJ says its founder intended.

With temps around 30-35F (0-2C) it's warm enough on a leisurely walk. Above 35-38F it's too warm. In anything below 30F I must wear a fleece or a wool shirt underneath. Today it's 15F outside, and I had to add a second down jacket (down sweater basically) underneath. This is with no wind.

So I wish FJ would have used 800CU down or better. It's baffling they used 700 CU when so many competitors offer higher fill power at around the same price. (Even the FJ Arctic parka only uses 700CU!) Not to mention the 10 percent feathers-why?! To be fair, this coat is stuffed very full with down/feathers, but I wish I never had to wear more layers when it's not insanely cold.

I do like the coziness, even if it makes me look like the kid on South Park. The pockets and the hood are great. The zipper is beefy but did take a while to get used to. In addition to being on the wearer's left it's a bit finicky-but after some initial struggle I figured it out. This coat is too bulky in the arms to comfortably drive in, but I knew that.

The adjustment cords are Ok. I like the simplicity and avoidance of elastic (which wears out) but the two for the hood are often trying to get in my mouth with the hood up.

The fabric is among the best features. It's quite tough and seems to be in two layers on the exterior. I have seen no down leakage at all. And it's slick, so it repels dirt much better than the textured fabrics seen more often these days. It's not waterproof but melting snow isn't a problem.

I wish it were slightly longer, to go mid-thigh. At 5-9" size S is perfect but it falls to just the top of the thighs.

Warm and waterproof - Worth every penny.
This jacket is super high quality and is warm, waterproof and windproof.

I'm 5'11", 190lbs, athletic build. The Men's size medium fits perfect, with room for layers without being too small or too big.

It is long below the waist so there is a double zipper to allow you to manuever into your car or a chair without pulling the jacket up to your waist.

I removed the faux fur from my hood, it comes off easily with buttons. The fur just wasn't my style.

A few people complained about the double zipper, which is plastic (not metal), and is a YKK branded zipper. I've had no issues with the double zipper.

Someone complained about the arm length. There are velcro cuffs so you can control how low you want the cuffs to go. No issues for me there.

Bonus: there are two zippered hidden pockets, one on the inside of the main vertical zipper and one on the outside of the zipper. This outside pocket allows you to access items without unzipping the coat.

Another bonus: there are two large pockets on the inside of the coat large enough to store ski googles. I happily store my winter scarf in there for when the temperature drops down and the wind picks up.

Chest-level hand warmer pockets are comfortable and fantastic for walking or standing in the cold.

I wore this coat for a trip in Seattle during the cold and rainy October season and it kept the wind and rain at bay, no wind or water got through.

I've wearing this coat here in Orlando, FL for the cold winter months and have stayed quite warm and cozy!

Keep in mind, this is the "Nuuk Lite Insulated" version so it's perfect for Seattle or Orlando. Fjallraven makes a warmer version called "Nuuk Insulated" which is probably more suited to arctic places like snowy parts of Canada or New England.

I highly recommend!
