I really wanted to backpack cooler that zips. The new version is hard to open and did not keep my items cool even after cooling the actual cooler for more than 24 hours. A whole bag of ice melted in less than 4 hours. The cooler was not in the direct sunlight and the temperature for the day did not exceed 80 degrees. It was very difficult to load and open. I am considering returning it.

Like others who have commented, we also bought the old version last year and it is a PAIN to get things in and out of! My husband thought we should have a contest for the best items used to keep the top open to load and unload (he finds Amazon boxes work well ;- So, like others I'm happy the change was made but bummed we can't benefit from it.

To all the people complaining about last years model and not being about to open it without 2 people... I use a wooden kitchen spoon, I keep it in there at all times really. Open it up stick the spoon in and BAM! it stays open and you only need 1 person to do the job. Improvise, its all good people!

I was going to buy the older version last year but decided to wait because of the complaints about the magnet. The wait paid off and I immediately bought the new and improved version earlier this month. I've used the cooler multiple times already and have had zero problems with the opening. I can understand the frustration of some reviewers who own the old version, but their review of the current cooler is invalid. If you are thinking about buying this new cooler, know the problem is fixed and loading/retrieving drinks is a breeze. My only complaint is the $50 price hike.

I believe like most other folks here. Yeti should offer an exchange from old to new style if desired. The old style is impossible to load or retrieve drinks.

Yeti makes quality products with exceptional thermal properties, but with that comes the weight. Even empty they aren't the lightest, fully loaded is a 2-person job to even move on level ground. So happy this has been addressed with this sturdy, smooth retractable handle, with a wheeling method similar to travel luggage. It is easy to maneuver on level ground empty or full and has great built inside handles for lifting. The 60 does come with one dry basket, which I think is plenty to start with. The cooler also includes the redesigned lid latches with are easy to use and create a tight seal. The 60 also has a lot of capacity so I'd recommend the divider to allow for multi-purpose storage. I like having one side full of ice with drinks and the other with just a large ice pack for food storage that could get lost in the loose ice. As for the cup caddy, it's a nice idea, but because this wheeled cooler tilts to be moved that could hinder its usefulness. As for the Lockport, I've only seen what was sent with the cooler, but as long as this doesn't increase either dimension of the cooler, I think it could be a good accessory if that feature is needed.
The well-engineered lit stays open even with the handle up. Also, the wheels extend past to body and handle to ensure the rear of the cooler and drain plug are protected. My only complaint is that it didn't come out sooner, but happy we have it now!

What about the rest of us? Bought the M30 last year in coral for my wife for family beach days. Its a great cooler that does what it says it does . But it collects dust after a few uses because its just too hard for my wife to use and load. Wish Yeti would let users exchange their M30s

I loved my R24 but my wife hated it, it's too heavy for her when it's full and she has a day at the beach planned with our 4 year old. The solution was a soft cooler. We looked at the backflip and this one?and this one was the clear winner purely based on the ease of getting in and out for her and our daughter. Wife struggled with the zipper on the soft coolers and it wasn't even an option for our daughter. The magnet is great, both can easily open and shut it to get things out and while it doesn't keep things as cold for as long as the R24 it is certainly sufficient for the day at the beach with plenty of opening and closing (when it's pre-chilled properly). The pink color is a hit with them and the sidekick is a great add on for sunscreen, keys, and her phone. It's a pricey investment but for the ease of use, yeti quality, and usability it's a great purchase that I think they'll enjoy for a long time.

Have the original zipper version and also the magnetic flap version. Finally YETI has fixed their problems with openings. Wish there was a exchange program available I would definitely get this new one.
