Bring back the older two flip lock design. I am not a fan of the new smash lock technology. I am trying to get replacement parts for my discontinued older ProShock Trekking Poles rather than use these ones. The two flip locks allowed infinite lengths and closed tight and worked great on 1000's of miles of trails and did not loosen on cold days. The new ones need frequent tightening; the poles falling apart 5x on one snow hike yesterday and are limited in length choices. My old ones never came apart. I do not recommend the new model and will inform friends. I hope this new smashlock technology is not here to stay. Not sure why they messed with a great design and product. Please bring back the old design as an option.

HATE the new SmashLock design!
I really have to categorize this new verison of the Pro Shock as "why cant they just leave a good thing alone". My older version of these poles have taken me to some of the highest peaks in the world, including the Himalaya and the Andes. I always liked the ability to adjust both the upper and lower sections of the poles with the infinite number of flick-lock adjustments in both sections. Sometimes I ascend slopes so steep that I need to keep my poles super short. The designer of the new version of these poles, who added the "smashlock" techology, is most likely not a true mountaineer. The new Smashlock on the lower pole section (which replaces a second flick-lock which the older version of the poles had, allows only 2 positions---fully closed or fully open. As a result, even when the upper pole section is collapsed all the way, there is no way to shorten the lower pole. WHY??? All for the luxury of having a lower pole section that may fail if I put enough pressure on it. No thanks. I hope Black Diaomond goes back to the 2 flicklock design on these poles. Until then, I guess I have to go to another brand like Leki.

I bought these sticks for my wife when she walked the The Camino de Santiago. I started using them after she returned and liked them so much I kept them and bought her another pair. I never bothered to investigate how the women's poles differ from the men's, but I've yet to have someone on trail stop me and say, "Hey, you know those are women's poles, don'cha?" They're light, the pole clips are secure and easy to adjust, and the shock absorber is easy on my aging arthritic wrists. Plus, after a friend bent the lower shaft on a pole, getting a replacement shaft was simple and straightforward. And the folks at Black Diamond were friendly, responsive, and helpful in getting back to my emails. You get what you pay for with these poles. Happy Trails
